Any woman wants to look beautiful on her wedding day, but when the entire nation is watching you (and your weight), surely this is going to put a big of extra pressure on the elegant 5ft 10, 8st 8lbs, 29 year old.
While many are comparing her athletic figure to that of Princess Diana, Kate obviously has a very strict regime in place, and I thought it would be a great time to give everyone some motivation, whether you’re looking to slip into a beautiful wedding dress, swan around on the beach or even turn up to a friend’s wedding looking your best.
What are a few things that we can learn from Kate that can help you get the body and reach the weight you want, which we both know is possible – I just need to get you taking action!
The Royal Diet
Kate is reported to stick to a low GI diet plan that incorporates lots of lean meats, fish and vegetables. Now while I haven’t seen her walking around Oxford Street with a lunch box, she’s definitely implementing the same foods as my diet. Apparently she’s a fan of salmon, beans and salads, something you can easily toss into your box, in fact I recently put a Summer Recipe onto the Facebook fan page which I might need to send to her!
But she doesn’t deny herself and I don’t want you to either, but her main staple doesn’t feature pizza, crisps, microwave meals and desserts. Why?
Because she’s got…
Royal Discipline
Okay, so she’s got Prince William by her side, but it’s clear that before she met the prince Kate had her own level of discipline which is essential if you want to get the body you want. What stops Kate from saying no to making her way through a giant packet of Doritos or six slabs of chocolate every day? She knows how great feeling thin feels and that gets addictive.
She can now go out and buy the sexy, elegant dresses that attracted a prince. What’s stopping you from getting up now and doing a bit of this…
Royal Exercise
Now it surprises me when I hear that Kate is a fan of running, rowing and weights. She likes to mix it up but I thought that William might have her up at 6am for a bootcamp in the grounds of Clarence House! He he
Now apparently she loves those short 20 minute burst workouts like those in Craig Ballantyne’s Turbulance Training. Why?
Well, they burn more fat because you’re burning calories even after you exercise, not just the time during the gym. This means you work really hard for a bursts and then rest. This also creates muscle tone which is really important for women. In fact I hear many women say ‘I don’t want muscles like those boys’. But the truth is, you NEED muscle in order to burn fat, but you don’t have the testosterone to get really big ones. As I observe in the gym, women generally don’t push and pull weights hard enough. When you lose muscle, your metabolism slows down so you find it much harder lose weight.
Kate also likes:
Rowing
Rowing is a fantastic exercise for cardiovascular strength as well as muscle tone. Make sure you sit up straight though, many people slouch over which stops you developing your core muscles. You’ll notice that Kate has great posture which means she’ll pull he shoulders back on the rower and tense her tummy.
Weights
Again, Kate knows that by lifting weights this will help shape her body so she can fit not into her wedding dress but also those sexy numbers when she’s having a romantic meal out with her prince. When training with weights, try and use dumbbells as these work in your own range of motion instead of machines. Check out the Dream Body Workout for loads of dumbbell exercises and a 90 day plan for home or in the gym.
Activities
Kate also gets out and about and loves skiing as well as Tennis. These are great activities which are fun and burn lots and lots of calories. You won’t feel like you’re exercising, so get out and about and start booking yourself in for more activities. Start off slowly and build up gradually. Remember, you’ll never know if you’ll enjoy something if you don’t try it.
Royal Time
Just have a think about all of the royal engagements that Kate has to deal with. How does Kate find time to eat well, exercise and do everything else she has to do? She has good time management. I doubt she spends 5 hours a day on Facebook and sitting in front of soaps. If you find it hard to ‘find time’ then write down everything you’re doing hour by hour – I bet I can find time for you. Most of the time it’s actually about people not wanting it enough.
They can’t see light at the end of the tunnel, so they just don’t start. You’ll never get a body like Kate’s, or close to it, if you don’t start!
